I found an Android weather app that looks like Google made it — only better

People were understandably upset when Google revamped its weather app and removed its lovable weather frog. Rain or shine, froggie was always ready to greet visitors looking for the day’s conditions. However, with the launch of the Pixel 9 and the introduction of Pixel Weather, the frog moved to the old weather interface accessed through Google Search. While that’s a suitable home, having to perform a search just to see the frog has become tiresome for many, including me. Thankfully, there’s a third-party app that can help.

Weather Master is an app I’ve grown to love over the past few weeks, and not just for its pro-frog stance. If I could redesign Pixel Weather, it would likely look like this. The app offers a perfect balance of clean aesthetics, playfulness, and useful information, creating a successful weather app experience. Unlike Pixel Weather, it makes efficient use of space without sacrificing these values. The use of Product Sans and Google’s design language throughout the app makes it feel like an official Android app, but it gets many things right that Google’s official app doesn’t.

How to watch Apple’s WWDC 2025 keynote address

  • Monday marks the start of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
  • Apple kicks things things off with its keynote announcement at 1pm ET.
  • The company is streaming the keynote on YouTube, and you can watch right here.

This Monday, June 9, Apple is getting set to make some of its biggest announcements of the year. We’re only a few weeks removed from Google’s own I/O 2025, and now Silicon Valley is getting ready for its next big platform event of the summer. Whether you’re an Apple die-hard, or just an Android stan who wants to stay on top of what the other side’s up to, tech fans everywhere are going to be interested in tuning in. Let’s check out how you can watch!

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is a week-long event that runs June 9–13. And to kick things off in proper fashion, Apple will get things started with its keynote announcement at 1pm ET.

These two apps finally fixed my creative workflow

For years, Notion has been my go-to for organizing everything from invoices to movie watchlists. Its flexibility as a database is unmatched, but when it came to creative workflows like jotting down spontaneous ideas, threading together thoughts, and collecting visual inspiration, that’s where Notion starts to feel a bit rigid. I needed something that didn’t ask me to file every passing idea into a system the moment it showed up. That’s just not how a creative flow works. At least not for me.

I needed a tool that didn’t ask every idea to fit into a system the moment it showed up.

I know, I know. Obsidian is the usual answer here with its unending customisation and the famed graph view. But I wanted something cloud-first. So I began looking for a tool that could complement, if not replace, what Notion already does so well. That’s how I found myself bouncing between Notion and Capacities for the better part of a year. Like most people trying to organize their digital life, I started with one, flirted with the other, then went back and forth until I realized something simple: these two tools aren’t competing. They’re completing each other. Here’s why building a system that uses both apps works so well for me.

YouTube is warning some Premium Lite subscribers about more ads next month, but don’t worry

  • YouTube Premium Lite offers a budget-priced paid subscription that removes most ads from YouTube.
  • Exceptions have included things like music videos, and in some markets Google has warned that Shorts may show ads, as well.
  • The company is now sending out notices to more subscribers warning them that ads in Shorts will start appearing at the end of June.

YouTube Premium is well worth paying for, giving users ad-free access to maybe the broadest library of content in streaming history. But especially if you get your music fix from another provider (like paying for Spotify Premium), it doesn’t make a ton of sense to be paying full price for YouTube Premium and not taking advantage of its YouTube Music access. That’s exactly why we were so happy to see Google introduce YouTube Premium Lite, which just focuses on removing (most) ads without worrying about any extras — and does so for a fraction of the price.

While Premium Lite removes the vast majority of ads from normal videos, we’ve known that Google has carved out a series of exceptions. Those consist of “music content, Shorts, and when you search or browse.” So far, at least in our experience, those have proved to be minimal, and we’ve found Premium Lite to offer a very reasonable compromise to paying full price.

I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, but man, are they pricey. I’ve been hoping to catch a good deal on them, and it seems the time has come! The most common model is the Matte Black version with Polarized Gradient Graphite glasses, and you can currently save $65.80 on them, bringing the price to a more reasonable $263.20.

Gemini Live gets real-time captions for more discreet conversations

  • Gemini Live now supports live captions, allowing users to read Gemini’s responses in real-time.
  • You can enable live captions by tapping the new button in the top-right corner of Gemini Live’s full-screen interface.
  • The live caption feature also allows users to start a conversation even when their phone’s volume is too low, which wasn’t possible before.

Google has finally started rolling out the live captions feature for Gemini Live, which we first spotted in a teardown earlier this year. The feature makes it easier for users to have a Gemini Live conversation in noisy environments. Additionally, live captions allow users to start a Gemini Live conversation even if their phone’s volume is muted or set too low—something that wasn’t previously possible.

Google appears to be gradually rolling out the live caption feature, with user reports on Reddit (via 9to5Google) suggesting that it isn’t widely available at the moment. The new live caption button is available on one of our devices running version 16.21.57 of the Google app, and here’s how it works.

Are you looking for a great phone that won’t break the bank? If you still want something high-end, I usually recommend phones like the Samsung Galaxy S25 or the Google Pixel 9 base models. These still offer a premium experience, but the price is more reasonable. They also happen to be smaller phones, which many of us prefer. They are also both at their all-time low prices right now, but which one should you pick?

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is fantastic, but not everyone needs the latest and greatest, especially when the retail price is a whopping $1,799. It’s on sale right now, but it’s still $1,499! I don’t feel very good about spending that much on a phone, but $500? That sounds more like it. The previous-generation Google Pixel Fold is just $499.99 on Woot!, and it is still a pretty awesome phone!

Samsung’s new ‘Precious’ may not be ready for a 2025 launch

Samsung Galaxy Ring 1

  • The Galaxy Ring 2 may not launch this year.
  • A new report suggests Samsung has just started developing the smart ring.
  • If development is still in its early stages, it could be several months before the product is ready for market.

It’s been nearly a year since Samsung launched the Galaxy Ring, so it’s reasonable to expect a successor soon, perhaps within the next month or so. However, it appears the wait for Samsung’s second-generation smart ring could be much longer than expected.

Here are 15 of my favorite Google Pixel wallpapers of all time

Wallpapers are a fantastic way to freshen up your smartphone’s look, which is why I love to switch mine up regularly. I’ve previously written about my favorite Samsung wallpapers, which I’ve used extensively in the past, and now I want to highlight some of my top picks from Google’s Pixel lineup.

Most Pixel phones come with their own distinctive set of wallpapers. While some might share similar themes, each collection usually has a unique feel. Google has curated a great selection, offering everything from dark and moody to bright and colorful options, and plenty in between.
