  • The latest Google Home app update promises smoother live streaming and more reliable camera performance by preventing phantom offline messages and reducing latency.
  • Google has also shared release notes for the app’s previous update to version 3.37, which introduced camera tile previews and fixed multiple bugs, including one that caused the app to crash at startup.

Google has shared release notes for version 3.38 of the Google Home app. The update started rolling out earlier this month, and we now know that it focuses on smoother, more reliable camera performance as well as some important bug fixes.

Released on August 4, Google notes that the update delivers two under-the-hood improvements for Nest and compatible Google Home cameras. First, the app will now more accurately report whether a camera is online or offline, helping prevent frustrating phantom offline messages some users have noticed in the past. Second, Google Home users can expect reduced latency when starting a live view, thanks to better signalling that makes the first frame appear faster and streaming more dependable.

8 forgotten Android classics I still play today

Call me a boomer, but for me, mobile gaming peaked in the early 2010s. Phones were getting powerful enough to run console-like experiences, but the industry hadn’t yet drowned in gatcha tactics, ads after every level, or endless battle passes. Instead, developers focused on compelling single-player experiences, short but addictive gameplay loops, and just the right balance of challenge and accessibility. In those early years, some mobile games felt more like passion projects than monetization funnels. Beyond that, they offered many of today’s mobile games don’t – bite-sized entertainment. While many of those titles have disappeared from the Play Store or become incompatible with modern Android versions, a handful remain playable and enjoyable even today.

Mobile gaming peaked in the 2010s and I’m ready to die on this hill.

My Google Keep notes were a mess — here’s how I got them under control

Google Keep has been my go-to note-taking app for years, but I recently noticed that my disorganized notes were becoming overwhelming, making it harder to find what I was looking for. I had previously tried color-coding notes and pinning important ones, however these fixes were no longer enough.

I decided to finally get control over my notes by using features I’d often ignored, including labels and deleting old notes I no longer needed. But I also moved some of my notes to another app with more advanced features.

The pixel that refused to die: LG Display’s 15-year OLED journey and the screen that changed everything

Deep within LG Display’s Paju facility, in a room most employees have forgotten exists, sits a 15-inch screen that shouldn’t be working. When engineers fired it up last month for a heritage documentation project, they expected perhaps a flicker and maybe some color degradation—the inevitable decay of organic compounds exposed to fifteen years of molecular entropy.

Instead, the display blazed to life with colors so vivid and blacks so profound that the measurement equipment had to be recalibrated. This wasn’t just functional; it performed better than its original 2009 specifications. For the engineers present, it was like discovering a vintage supercar that had somehow gained horsepower while sitting in a garage.

7 features I want Chrome to steal from its rivals, and why

I’ve been on the Chrome bandwagon for years now and it remains my go-to browser even today. But let’s just say, I haven’t been entirely faithful to Chrome. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in a wide variety of browsers ranging from Edge to modern AI-infused alternatives to see what I might be missing out on. And while I keep coming back to Chrome, it’s clear to me that Google has been playing it safe.

I haven’t been entirely faithful to Chrome, and that’s exactly why I know it can do better.

Google’s been so focused on stability, performance, and ecosystem integration that it’s lost some of the ambition that made Chrome exciting in the first place. Meanwhile, competitors like Edge, Vivaldi, Samsung Internet, and even Opera have been quietly adding genuinely useful features that make you question why Chrome doesn’t have them yet. Don’t get me wrong. For as much as we criticize Chrome, it still nails the basics like syncing across devices, a smart address bar, and unmatched integration with Google services. But that is exactly why it should be better. With the basics nailed down tight and mass acceptance by millions of users, now is the time for Chrome to raise the bar with a modern feature set.

  • A Korean YouTuber manually folded the Galaxy Z Fold 7 200,000 times over five days to test its real-world durability.
  • Samsung’s 500,000-fold durability claim for the inner screen seems plausible so far, but the test did produce some hardware issues.
  • Notable issues included a reboot error (6,000–10,000 folds), hinge creaking (from 46,000 folds), liquid seepage (after 75,000 folds), and speaker failure (at 175,000 folds).

Update: August 5, 2025 (10:14 PM ET): The Korean YouTuber has completed his manual folding test of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, reaching an impressive 200,000 folds over the course of five grueling days. The goal was to evaluate how the phone holds up under real-world usage conditions. Samsung claims the new display can withstand over 500,000 folds, and so far, that appears to be accurate. After 200,000 folds, the inner display showed no dead pixels, maintained accurate touch response, and exhibited no major issues, aside from a slightly more pronounced crease.

  • T-Mobile is reportedly offering customers free bill credits to reward them for their loyalty.
  • The offers can reportedly be claimed by contacting T-Mobile’s customer service representatives.
  • The initiative seems to be aimed at long-time customers looking to switch carriers.

While Verizon is disappointing its long-time customers by cutting loyalty discounts, T-Mobile seems to have a new trick up its sleeve to retain loyal customers from switching carriers.

  • A YouTuber is currently folding and unfolding the Galaxy Z Fold 7 live on YouTube.
  • The phone has already survived over 100,000 folds.
  • The goal of the YouTuber is to manually fold the device 200,000 times and see if it survives.

A Korean tech YouTuber is currently putting the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 through an extreme durability test, folding and unfolding it live on YouTube with a goal of hitting 200,000 folds. Yes, by hand. And no, we don’t recommend trying this at home unless you have a lot of patience (and nothing better to do for several days). Honestly, it’s kind of nice that the YouTuber is doing the hard work so the rest of us don’t have to.
