Google has launched a new accessory targeted at Pixel phone users, and coincidentally, it comes right after Apple launched a similar one for iPhones. The new $7 Google Rope Wristlet is meant to attach to a phone case, allowing you to securely dangle your device from your wrist.

Nintendo Switch emulator Eden is now available on the Google Play Store (Update: Confirmed)

Update, September 13, 2025 (12:10 PM ET): This article previously referred to Eden as the first Switch emulator on the Play Store, but the original Yuzu emulator was available on the Play Store shortly before it was shut down in 2024. Countless other copycat versions were also uploaded to the Play Store, which was the source of our confusion. We apologize for the mistake.

As for the validity of this emulator, the Eden team has now confirmed on Discord that the Play Store listing is “legitimate, and fully owned and published by us.” However, it contains an older version of the app, with the latest v0.0.3 update from last Friday awaiting approval from Google.

I can’t wait for Samsung and Google to copy this revolutionary iPhone 17 feature

Every Apple event, be it WWDC or the new iPhone launch, brings me a set of confusing thoughts. There’s a lot of mockery over what Apple has decided to copy innovate and their random announcements that no one asked for (hello, iPhone Air), but also a bit of jealousy-slash-awe at Apple’s pull over the entire phone industry. I see that new front-facing camera, and I know many Android brands are now scrambling to copy it in 2026; it’ll easily be the new gold standard of selfie cameras.

But if there was one thing that stood out to me more than the silly thinness of the Air and its external battery pack, the misleading “fusion” lens, the 120Hz refresh rate on the base iPhone, and the new modems and chips, it’s one tiny detail: The iPhone 17 now starts at 256GB.

Google Home’s feature-packed new automation editor is ready for you to try out now

TL;DR

  • Google Home is rolling out a new automation editor experience on Android and iOS.
  • The editor supports conditions, adds new actions and triggers, and just empowers more complicated automations.
  • While some features aren’t yet working, you still have the option to go back to the old editor.

Having a proper smart home means more than just installing some Wi-Fi lightbulbs, smart outlets, and security cameras. If you really want to get the most out of all that tech, you’re going to want to set up some automations, where one event triggers a bunch of other things to start happening in sequence — like maybe when someone rings your doorbell, you want the show you’re watching to automatically pause and the lights in your foyer to turn on.

Getting that all configured properly, though, can be a huge undertaking — and that’s even assuming that all the automated stuff you’d like to do is supported at all. Thankfully, Google just announced that the Home app is receiving a major update to its automation editor, including adding in some new starter triggers.

Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra phones could be stuck with the same telephoto camera until 2027

TL;DR

  • According to Ice Universe, Samsung plans to use the same 50MP telephoto sensor on the Galaxy S6 Ultra and S27 Ultra as the one it introduced on the S24 Ultra.
  • The tipster previously claimed that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may actually downgrade the 3x shooter to a smaller sensor.
  • If true, the move would echo Samsung’s decision to stick with its 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main sensor and Sony’s IMX754 3x sensor across multiple generations.

Samsung’s Ultra flagships are known for pushing smartphone specs, but a new leak suggests the company may be hitting the snooze button on sensor upgrades.

Google’s latest Apple burn lands a day after iPhone 17 launch, but not with full heat

TL;DR

  • Google has dropped a new “Best Phones Forever” ad a day after the iPhone 17 launch.
  • The spot shows a Pixel boasting Gemini’s AI video generation capabilities and mocking the iPhone’s lack of an equivalent feature.
  • The ad isn’t Google’s strongest burn yet, but it’s a playful reminder of Pixel’s AI edge over Apple’s flagships.

Apple just unveiled the iPhone 17 series, and Google is wasting no time pouncing on it. The company has released a new “Best Phones Forever” ad in an attempt to burn Apple. In this ongoing series, a smug Pixel banters with a clueless iPhone, only to show off a feature the iPhone still doesn’t have. However, this new ad, titled “Generation Gap,” doesn’t quite land with the same bite as Google’s previous entries.

Google’s Pixels rocket back into the global top 5 premium smartphones

TL;DR

  • Pixels are suddenly doing very well in the global premium smartphone market.
  • Google broke into the top 5 in the first half of this year, thanks to a highly successful Pixel 9 series.
  • Apple still leads the pack by a mile, with Samsung claiming second place.

Google is definitely doing something right because Pixels are back in the top 5 global premium smartphone rankings (devices that cost above $600), with a highly impressive 105% growth year over year.

According to Counterpoint Research, Google’s flagships shot up in popularity, driven by the success of the Pixel 9 series, the company’s expansion into new markets, and its strategy of positioning the phones as AI-first devices. Sales for Pixels doubled last year, indicating that consumer confidence in the brand and its phones is growing at a healthy pace. It’ll be interesting to see how much further the Pixel 10 lineup can push Google’s market share in the second half of this year.
