The cheapest countries to buy an iPad Pro

The iPad Pro is one of the most powerful tablets on the market — and one of the most expensive. Apple ensures you pay a premium for its brand, and the manufacturer isn’t known for offering big discounts on its tech either. Maybe someone in the gym or around the water cooler told you that you’d be able to pick up much cheaper from another country, but is it true? We’ve dug into the prices and worked out which is the cheapest place to buy an iPad Pro.

There are a couple of clarifications to make before we get into the prices. First, we will focus on the prices of the base model 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models in this comparison. That means the 128GB Wi-Fi configurations. Unsurprisingly, the cheapest and most expensive places don’t change too much in ranking for the other variants.

Google has already created a limited edition Pixel Fold and its incredible

  • Google has created a limited edition Pixel Fold that celebrates the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
  • This Pixel Fold has gold metallic accents on the sides and camera bar and adds an emblem to the camera bar.
  • This limited edition version of the Pixel Fold is not available for purchase.

Hip hop arrived on the scene in 1973 with DJ Kool Herc credited as the first to spin the same record on twin turntables, toggling between them to isolate and extend percussion breaks. It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 50 years since the genre’s birth. Google is celebrating this anniversary by releasing a special version of its recently launched Pixel Fold.

Google has started to hand out a special “Hip Hop 50” version of the Pixel Fold to people through its #GiftFromGoogle program. With 400 made in total, the handset is a limited edition device that, unfortunately, is not available for purchase.

Smartphone Ransomware: Understanding the Threat and Ways to Stay Protected

With the increasing prevalence of smartphones in our daily lives, they have become an integral part of our communication, productivity, and personal data storage. However, as the digital landscape evolves, so do the threats that target our devices. One such threat is smartphone ransomware, a malicious software that can wreak havoc on our digital lives. In this article, we will explore the concept of smartphone ransomware, its potential consequences, and most importantly, the measures you can take to protect yourself from this growing menace.

Understanding Smartphone Ransomware: Smartphone ransomware is a form of malware that encrypts the data on a device and holds it hostage until a ransom is paid to the attacker. This malware can infiltrate your smartphone through various means, such as malicious apps, infected websites, or phishing emails. Once infected, the ransomware takes control of your de-vice and restricts access to your files, photos, and even your entire device, rendering it virtually unusable.

Consequences of Smartphone Ransomware: The consequences of falling victim to smartphone ransomware can be severe. Here are a few potential risks:

1.    Data Loss: Ransomware can encrypt your valuable data, making it inaccessible until you pay the ransom. If you don’t have a backup, you may lose important files, personal photos, or sensitive documents forever.
2.    Financial Loss: Attackers often demand payment in cryptocurrencies, making it difficult to trace and retrieve the funds. Paying the ransom not only encourages further at-tacks but also provides no guarantee that your files will be decrypted.
3.    Privacy Breach: Ransomware can potentially expose your personal and financial in-formation, as attackers may gain unauthorized access to your device during the infection process.

Protecting Yourself from Smartphone Ransomware: While smartphone ransomware poses a significant threat, you can take proactive steps to minimize the risks. Consider the following preventive measures:

1.    Update Software: Keep your smartphone’s operating system, apps, and antivirus soft-ware up to date. Regular updates often include security patches that address vulnerabilities exploited by ransomware.
2.    Exercise Caution: Be mindful of the apps you download and the websites you visit. Stick to reputable app stores, and carefully review user ratings and reviews. Avoid clicking on suspicious links or downloading files from un-trusted sources.
3.    Install Antivirus Software: Utilize a reliable mobile security solution that can detect and prevent ransomware infections. These tools often include real-time scanning and provide an extra layer of protection against malicious apps and websites.
4.    Backup Your Data: Regularly back up your smartphone data to an external source, such as cloud storage or a computer. This ensures that even if your device is compromised, you can restore your files without paying a ransom.
5.    Enable Device Lock and Encryption: Protect your device with a strong password or biometric authentication. Enable encryption settings to safeguard your data from unauthorized access.
6.    Educate Yourself: Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and best practices. Understand common phishing techniques and learn how to identify suspicious emails or messages. Education is a powerful tool in preventing ransomware attacks.

Conclusion

Smartphone ransomware is a growing concern in our increasingly digital world. By understanding the nature of the threat and implementing preventive measures, you can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to this malicious software. Stay vigilant, keep your software up-dated, and follow best practices for mobile security. By doing so, you can enjoy the benefits of your smartphone without worrying about ransomware compromising your valuable data.

Google AI aggression makes Bernstein research downgrade Alphabet

Google’s AI push in its search engine algorithms has made Bernstein the wealth management company downgrade the technology giant’s parent company Alphabet. Resulting in the value cut of shares by 1.5 percent that will closely mimic in the market performance over outperform results.

The reason for the market research company to downgrade the value of the internet juggernaut at the Wall Street stock exchange is the risks involved with the over-indulgence in Artificial Intelligence that might also affect the stocks of Microsoft and Nvidia, as both are following the same operational suit.

Alphabet was slow in adoption of AI. However, its vision changed from early this year, or probably after Microsoft released conversational AI chatbot ChatGPT. Suddenly, its vision gained an aggressive push that soon saw the integration of GenAI into its search results, follow-ing the footsteps of Microsoft with Bing search.

When robots start taking the human mind, there will be a sure-shot pull down in the search ad pricing. This resulted in a downgrade of buy, hold, and sell ratings and forced the tech giant witness a lowest downfall for the first time since April 2018 with only 4.655 out of 5 points.

Those in favor of the company’s well-being of stock prices predict that the downgrade phe-nomenon will be temporary as the internet search giant will be coming up with a new AI sur-prise to the world in September 2023. And it can take its relative stocks zoom past the ex-change corridor in flying colors.

While the likes of Myspace and MSN Messenger were already around in 2004, the invention of Facebook that year changed the social media landscape forever. As of 2022, Mark Zuckerberg’s social network was the largest in the world, with nearly three billion users and about half that number using it every day. But many people have become disillusioned with the app and may wonder what other options are out there. We’ve dug into what Facebook does right, what it doesn’t do so well, and what the best Facebook alternatives are.

Google’s next-gen AR glasses join the Google graveyard

  • Google has scrapped its plans for next-gen augmented reality glasses.
  • The company has decided to pivot to developing software platforms for AR instead.
  • Google employees were reportedly frustrated with leaders continually changing the strategy for the project.

Currently, there’s an augmented reality (AR) hardware arms race brewing between Samsung, Apple, and Meta. At one time, Google was also a part of that race, as it worked on a product called Project Iris. But it appears Google has now bowed out of that race after canceling the project.

Details about Project Iris first emerged in a report from The Verge in January 2022. The device was described as an AR device resembling a pair of ski goggles. However, that particular device happened to be a separate AR project in partnership with Samsung — which was announced earlier this year. The real Project Iris was instead a series of products resembling a pair of glasses.

  • Pixel 7 and 6 owners are reporting battery drain and overheating issues.
  • The issues appear to be linked to June’s security patch.
  • It appears some users have been spared from the problem.

Last week, Google finally released the June security patch for Pixel 7 and 6 devices. While it’s better late than never, it appears the update may be causing issues for some owners.

As spotted by 9to5Google, hundreds of Pixel users have been flocking to a new Reddit thread. The thread is full of reports claiming that both the Pixel 7 and 6 series is experiencing battery drain and overheating issues after updating to the June 2023 security patch. It also adds “The select text option isn’t working and a lot more bugs.”

Dancing Bonaroo-goers set off Apple’s Crash Detection, cause chaos for 911 team

  • There were reportedly five times the number of false 911 calls than average in Coffee County, Tennessee during Bonaroo.
  • The iPhone’s Crash Detection feature is blamed for the sudden increase in false alarms.
  • It appears Bonaroo attendees were dancing hard enough to set off the feature.

When Apple revealed the iPhone 14, it also introduced a new emergency feature for Apple devices called Crash Detection. Since then, there have been a number of incidents involving false alarms due to the feature. The most recent incident appears to have caused some chaos for a county in Tennessee.

This weekend more than 80,000 people attended the annual music festival known as Bonaroo. As this event went on, local emergency responders were spammed by false 911 calls, as reported by WKRN.

I want this camera experience on future flagships

The best smartphone cameras have several different approaches to zoom these days. For example, Samsung is content to offer dual zoom cameras (3x and 10x), Google offering a single 5x camera, while several other brands stick to 2x to 3.5x tele cameras.

After several weeks of using the HUAWEI P60 Pro, I realized that I’d love to see this particular telephoto camera experience on more smartphones. Allow me to explain why.

I’d love to buy a Galaxy Watch 6, but it isn’t the smartwatch for me

Opinion post by
Rita El Khoury

If rumors are to be believed, we’re about a month away from the Galaxy Watch 6’s launch. And we’re also a month away from me watching Samsung’s keynote with a bit of jealousy because as much as I want to love this watch, it isn’t for me. The reason is simple: Samsung keeps locking some of its watch features to its own phones and, as a multi-phone (and specifically Pixel) user, I would be missing out on several crucial features if I bought this watch.

I say this with the resignation of a smartwatch fan who got a Galaxy Watch 4 in 2021 and loved how it mixed the best of Samsung with the best of Google and Wear OS. It took a few months and updates, but having access to both Bixby and Google Assistant or Samsung Pay and Google Wallet was neat. So was the ability to install Gboard and Google Messages on the watch to have a uniform experience with my phones.

Can’t get Starlink Residential? You should consider Starlink Roam instead

Starlink first hit the scene in 2019, though it was a pretty limited beta at the time. As someone stuck with Hughesnet and LTE as his only option for getting online, I was already sold on the idea of Low-Earth Orbit satellite internet. Unfortunately, I was too slow to sign up and soon found my only choice was to join a waitlist. It was estimated I’d be waiting at least six months to a year. Sound at all familiar? If you’ve been waiting for Starlink but don’t currently have access, I implore you to consider Starlink Roam.

Starlink Roam, previously known as Starlink for RV, is designed with travelers in mind. Don’t let that fool you. Starlink Roam can make for a decent home internet option, just as long as you know what you’re getting into.

AirPods wannabes litter the wireless earbud landscape, and while many have tried emulating Apple, Sony has held its ground. After multiple generations of WF-1000X earbuds, Sony’s secret sauce sets it apart. With stellar active noise canceling (ANC), premium hardware, and friendly software, the WF-1000XM4 stand tall as some of the best buds on the market. Sony’s dedication to refinement and OS-agnostic features make me eager to see what the upgraded Sony WF-1000XM5 have in store.

What is a 0.5 selfie and how can you create one?

Pixel 7 Pro selfie with rear camera through viewfinder edited

Credit: Hadlee Simons / Android Authority

Are you following the latest trends on social media? A new one has arrived. Maybe you’ve noticed some interesting selfies lately, showing odd proportions like long arms, more prominent foreheads, and what may seem like overall distorted perspectives. We’re here to tell you all about what is a 0.5 selfie and how to create your very own.

What is a 0.5 selfie?

A 0.5 selfie is pronounced as a “point five selfie” and is simply a photo shot with an ultrawide angle camera. Such ultrawide angle lenses have curved glass, allowing images to cover a wider visibility. As a result, the image will be morphed, extending and changing the look of how things look, especially closer to the edges. This is why 0.5 selfies usually show super long arms; these are commonly along the photo’s edges. This effect is similar to what a fisheye lens does, but undertoned.
